organization which internationally networks people and places around the world via
the Internet, recently surpassed 1 million positive member experiences. This number
indicates positive experiences individual CouchSurfers have reported while hosting,
being hosted by, traveling with or meeting other members of the CouchSurfing
community.

"CouchSurfing is committed not only to facilitating intercultural understanding, but
also to maximizing positive experiences for our members," explained Dan Hoffer,
co-founder of CouchSurfing. \"We are excited to have helped play a role in over 1
million positive experiences so far, and believe this is just the start of a
wonderful journey ahead.\"

In addition to the 1 million positive experiences milestone, the number
of members has topped 600,000. CouchSurfing members have reported more
than 620,000 new friendships formed globally with more than 500,000
successful surfings. To date the community represents nearly 1,200
languages around the world.

The 1 million positive experiences milestone is testimony to the
effectiveness of the safety measures members are encouraged to take when
hosting or being hosted within the www.couchsurfing.com community. As
members of the CouchSurfing community, participants are encouraged to
fill out a personal profile and to carefully review the profiles of
anyone they surf with or host. Members are also welcome to become
"verified," a process through which the CouchSurfing organization
verifies the user's address. Qualified members may also "vouch" for each
other, bestowing an even higher level of trust within the community.
